Bet on Ajax this weekend and you’re likely to come up good against an FC Twente side that is in all sorts of trouble.
Ajax are flying steady near the top of the Eredivisie table, while Twente are dropping like a stone.
It means Ajax should be considered in any football combination bet this weekend, especially in the Dutch betting markets.
They are the heavy favourites to win this match and must do if they are to continue their title challenge with runaway leaders Eindhoven, who are currently EIGHT POINTS clear at the top.
Bet on Ajax
Ajax travel to FC Twente on Saturday seeking to continue their excellent recent run. Bar a blip against Utrecht before the latest international break (a shock 2-1 defeat) Ajax have won six in seven games. And they meet Twente at just the right time.
Last weekend Ajax beat Twente’s relegation rivals Roda 5-1. The weekend before they put eight past NAC to nil. Between them, Donny van de Beek and Justin Kluivert scored seven of those 13 goals. The two youngsters are certainly not yet the finished articles but Ajax is the perfect place for their development and confidence is now sky high.
Twente wouldn’t want to face an Ajax side that has scored 13 goals in two games at the best of times. But when they’re enduring a miserable run of form like now… well, this could turn nasty. Twente have lost four on the bounce and haven’t scored in their last two outings. They were sucker-punched by AZ last Friday 2-0, having been smashed 4-0 at home to Heerenveen the previous week.
Bet on Ajax to beat Twente at 2/5. But you don’t have to stop there. It’s worth betting live on the football here, as Ajax could be in for a strong halftime score if they look good in the opening throes.
Bet on Eredivisie
Elsewhere in the Eredivisie, Eindhoven are a strong bet at 1/7 at home to beat Sparta. This match is probably best to be avoided (purely because of the slim odds) unless you go home/home on a HT/FT win.
Feyenoord host Vitesse knowing a win will see them leapfrog the Arnheim side. Vitesse have struggled of late, ending a run of four games without a win by beating Den Haag 2-0 only last weekend. Vitesse’s youthful early-season exuberance has died somewhat, with the hard graft of winter the making of them. As for Feyenoord, they ended a five-game winless streak by beating Groningen last weekend and held Manchester City to a 1-0 loss in the Champions League the previous Tuesday. Feyenoord are 1/2 to beta Vitesse.
Down at the bottom, Twente’s precarious position could be worsened if NAC can get something against Excelsior. NAC lost 2-1 to high-flying Heracles last weekend — an improvement on the 8-0 smashing of Ajax — while Excelsior have lost twice on the bounce. A draw here is priced at 12/5
