Racing on Wednesday heads to Ballarat with an eight-race meeting.
While the card doesn't have as much depth as some of the Wednesdays of the past weeks, it still has plenty of progressive horses slated to run including the likes of Housay (2.40), Redwood Shadow (3.20), Crackerjack Prince (3.70), Zelify (2.25), Murchison (4.20), Miraitowa (5.00) and Zorro's Dream (3.30).
The track is rated a Heavy8 on Tuesday morning but may dry enough to get into the soft range.
Rail is out 4 metres 1600-800m and is out 8 metres the remainder.
Expecting the track to race relatively fair but recommend to the monitor conditions race by race.

Race 1 – 1600m 3YO+ Mdn
Reckon a smart horse is running here in Redwood Shadow (3.20) who was very good on debut.
He was beaten by a smart colt in Cambourne who is a legitimate Caulfield Guineas contender at Donald and he had genuine excuses in the run as he got a long way back and had an interrupted run between the 600-400 before straightening.
He also had to cover a lot of ground as he circled the entire field.
He came home in the quickest Last 200m of the race there and was very strong though the line indicating the step up in distance will be right up his alley.
Think the price on offer of $3+ is more than fair as I marked him 2.10 and think that he takes a power of beating here.
He is still entered in the VRC Derby and maybe something on at the 71.00 there as he seems to have good talent.
Crackerjack Prince (3.70) ran very well at Geelong but I do feel he will be better over further and with more racing as he is still learning his craft.
Couldn't get him as close in the market to Redwood Shadow as think the favourite will be much sharper than this guy at 1600m.
Vilanculos (4.40) has the Danny O'Brien polish and can't be dismissed but does seem under the odds given her run on debut at Geelong.

Suggested Bet – Redwood Shadow (3.20) (Win)

Race 4 – 1200m Maiden
Favourite Bethpage (3.30) is first up here and has Jumped Out well recently at Casterton for her return to the races.
Her form last prep wasn't that flash though and her last start 4th at Terang beaten by Loe and Fortyfivedegrees doesn't cover itself in glory.
Happy to risk her here even though her Jump Outs indicate she has come back a better horse.
First starter Miraitowa (5.00) has had early market support and is easy to understand why when you watch his most recent Cranbourne Jump Out where he won clearing out from his opposition in reasonable time for the morning.
Kevin Corstens has his stable runners racing very well with plenty of horses exceeding market expectations of late.
That gives me great confidence that Miraitowa will be ready to win first up.
Murchison (4.20) has had a couple of quiet Jump Outs and must be a watch runner here.
Seems to have some class and need to respect the stable.

Suggested Bet – Miraitowa (5.00) (Win)

Race 6 – 1200m Class 1
Zorro's Dream (3.30) was very unlucky not to win at Cranbourne last start and has a very big SP profile but I can't work out why he is so close to Housay in the market here and I tell you what I'm not complaining.
Housay (2.40) (in above tweet) won at Wodonga in the style of a Group class racehorse when absolutely owning his opposition to win by 7 lengths in good overall time.
If he produces that performance again here he will be winning and the scary bit is on ratings it's easy to predict that he will actually improve on that run and outstrip that figure he put up on debut.
Anything above 1.50 is a terrific price and guess what they are betting…2.50 and at that price you have to be launching the shoulders back.
Absolute moral!

Suggested Bet – Housay (2.40) (Win)

Hopefully we can have a fill up leading into the Group 1 racing across the weekend.

Good luck punters!
