Racecourse
Rosehill, Sydney
Race 7
Expressway Stakes, 1200m
As in previous years a number of autumn hopefuls will launch into action via this WFA sprint, which has three Group 1 winners engaged and doesn’t want for quality with a case to be made for just about every runner.
Godolphin are set to have a strong hand through the presence of noted fresh performers Flit (5.50) and Savatiano (2.00) (in below tweet), who has won five of her eight first-up starts.
That tally includes wins at the start of each of her past two campaigns after she overhauled Sirrconi to take out the PB Lawrence Stakes at Caulfield early last spring, the mare bookending her carnival with success in the Hot Danish around here after a couple of disappointing runs in Melbourne in between.
Off a trial where she wasn’t fully extended last week, she’s drawn favourably in two and should get every chance under Hugh Bowman.

Flit (in below tweet) also tends to race well at the start of her preparation having led home a Godolphin trifecta in the Light Fingers Stakes at the same stage 12 months ago and chased home the rejuvenated Eduardo over this distance during the spring.
Her trial also suggested she had more to offer and of the pair she looks the better value.

After an autumn to forget multiple Group 1 winner Kolding (8.50) (in below tweet) was back to something like his best in the spring, the bay’s inability to perform in Melbourne in stark contrast to his auspicious strike-rate in the harbour city.
He resumed in this last year and finished on well from the back for fourth with a similar outing anticipated here, the 5YO likely to find a handful of these too sharp over the six furlongs and improve upon whatever he does with bigger targets down the track.

Of the others, Mizzy (9.00) is an interesting market watch with the Anthony Cummings-trained mare, who missed the autumn carnival last year courtesy of a muscle injury, showing plenty of dash in her two lead-in trials.
She’ll likely lead and has raced well around here in the past while the underrated Star Of The Seas (4.40) rarely runs a bad race and should give a decent account of himself as always.
My Tips: 1 – Flit (5.50), 2 – Savatiano (2.00), 3 – Star Of The Seas (4.40)
