This weekend is Tottenham v Manchester United.
I will take a look at my top 5 matches over the years and I’m sure you will have others.
Man Utd looking to secure 2nd place in the league and keep momentum going that should also help in Europe.
Spurs have struggled for consistency of late and Mourinho has been a little critical of his players saying the coach has not changed but the players he is working with are maybe not the ones he has had at previous clubs who were able to execute a game plan.
A big game for both clubs and I do think United are the favourites here.

5 – Tottenham 3 def Manchester United 0 (April 2016)

With the season looking to throw a new title winner, Spurs were keen to keep the pressure on Leicester who sat on top.
Manchester United turned up late for this match due to a traffic jam from London.
Spurs had not beaten Man Utd at home since 2001 and they were looking to change that stat.
They did have to wait until the 70th minute to break the deadlock through Dele Alli.
Two goals quickly followed by Toby Alderweireld and Erik Lamela to blow United away who only managed one shot on target for the match and were never in this match.

4 – Tottenham 3 def Manchester United 0 (August 2018)

Spurs had not scored a goal at Old Trafford for four seasons and this day managed three and a very good result.
It was not a game that you see the performance and match it up with the result.
Man Utd were lively in this encounter and had some very good early chances with the best falling to Romelu Lukaku.
They did not take them.
Harry Kane scored a wonderful header and Lucas Moura, who was top man on the day scored two.
Spurs ran out 3-0 winners and Mourinho experienced his heaviest loss in all competitions at the club and also walked out on his press conference after feeling the journalist was not showing him respect.

3 – Tottenham 6 def Manchester United 1 (October 2020)

This was a horrible day for Man Utd and an absolute beauty for Spurs.
It started with all sorts of action early, in fact 3 goals in the first 7 minutes.
Utd took an early lead but it was all downhill from there.
Poor defending, a very soft sending off for Anthony Martial and a game that Spurs would love to have kept on going and going while United were looking for holes to jump in.
Mourinho with a huge result back at his former club and Son Heung-min and Harry Kane were superb on this day.
Spurs fans enjoy and Man Utd fans look away.

2 – Manchester United 5 def Tottenham 2 (April 2009)

Now we are getting to the games where you come away and say, did that really just happen.
A very open game that seen a lot of early chances but it is probably fair to say it was a surprise to see Spurs leading with two goals for Darren Bent and Luka Modric when Utd were creating many chances.
Man Utd stayed patient as Fergie teams do and kept probing and pushing and managed to find a way back into this match with a penalty after Michael Carrick was brought down.
The game from here was just incredible with Cristiano Ronaldo involved in absolutely everything and scoring a couple.
Wayne Rooney also notched a double with the final goal coming from Dimitar Berbatov against his old club and a massive come from behind win for Utd on this day.

1 – Manchester United 5 def Tottenham 3 (September 2001)

Well, we finally get to number one and I would be interested to know how many have this game here.
I have seen comebacks before but not quite like this day.
Away from home and finding yourself 3-0 down at half-time is a really tough position to be in.
If you ever want to see a game of two halves and how quickly things can change, jump on this.
Spurs flying in first half with goals from Dean Richards, Les Ferdinand and Christian Ziege and Man Utd well off it.
Changes at half-time and talk about getting a tune up.
Headed goals brought Man Utd level before a wonderful worked goal that saw Gabriel Veron finish in bottom corner.
The game and the comeback were complete when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer picked out David Beckham on the edge of the box.
He struck a perfect half-volley that had the net bulging.
This was a remarkable fight back and is my number 1 game between the two clubs.
