Punter turns $50 into just under $10K with a 3 Leg Multi at Ascot

December 10, 2017

Our Punter of The Week is CB, from Victoria, who torched us for $9,300 with a simple three-leg multi on the final three races at Ascot (Perth) on Saturday evening.

His $50 treble was on the number one saddlecloth wearer in all three races and got off to a comfortable start with favourite Shackleton ($3.10) looking the winner a long way from home in the Seacorp Handicap under Jarrad Noske.

Things started to get interesting when David Harrison’s Disco Riffic ($10), who has endured a frustrating run of minor results this preparation, was able to overwhelm favourite Fraternize in the concluding stages of the D’Orsogna Handicap and keep our punter’s bet alive heading into the last.

Cappo D’Oro ($6), a horse who has also proven frustrating for connections after a sequence of five consecutive second-placed finishes midyear, was charged with completing the bet and didn’t disappoint, closing hard late to nab Mythical Saga right on the line in the Devil’s Lair Handicap and send our punter into raptures.

With the three legs providing combined odds of $186, our punter’s $50 investment had turned into $9,300 and he now had plenty of reason (and dollars!) to celebrate the New Year in style.

Nice work CB!
