Punter Combines Four Favourites For Easy $2,000 Collect

April 30, 2018

Our Punter of the Week is SM, from Sydney, who turned a $50 investment into a $2,000 payday with a successful four-leg, cross-state gallops multi on Saturday afternoon.

Kicking things off in Brisbane, our punter watched the aptly-named Marsupial, out of mare Koala Bear, let down with a strong run to land the Makers Mark Plate over 1350m and give seasoned jockey Jim Byrne a win in Godolphin colours.

SM had a short wait for the next race at Caulfield where talented 3YO William Thomas, in the hands of John Price at Cranbourne, improved his record to three wins from five starts as Damien Oliver timed his run to perfection to reel in Sun Quan in the Changing Places Restate Handicap over 1200m.

The Chairman’s Stakes at Morphettville was his next port of call and, as is so often the case, the Weir/Lane combination got the job done for punters with Leicester atoning for a slightly disappointing showing in the Port Adelaide Guineas to get the cheese and assert his claims for next month’s South Australian Derby.

Holding a live ticket, SM barely had to raise a sweat with the well-tried Roman Son surging to the lead at the furlong pole and having more than two lengths on the rest of the field at the finish of the Provincial Stayers Handicap at Hawkesbury.

Having picked his best bet on each of the four cards and combined them into a multi, SM’s $50 outlay was worth a cool $2,162 to him with the individual legs listed below.

Nice work SM!

Marsupial - $2.90
William Thomas - $3.10
Leicester (Top Fluc) - $2.60
Roman Son (Top Fluc) - $1.85

Total Odds - $43.25
