Premier League is back and it’s back with a bang! The Manchesters face each other in clash which is colossal on so many levels. Apart from being an age old rivalry, it will be psychological warfare for both managers, both with very different yet effective strategies and tactics. It’s a pure battle for bragging rights, competitive edge in the league table and a chance for the managers to prove themselves in their newly appointed roles. This is what makes betting on the premier league so exciting.
Clash of the Week – Manchester United vs Manchester City
Both teams have a 100% winning record in the first three games of the season which is quickly setting the tone for the rest of the season. Man City suffered a terrible blow after Sergio Aguero was handed down a three match ban after violent misconduct when he elbowed Winston Reid in their 3-1 victory over West Ham. This factor will shift the dynamic of betting on the Manchester derby as Aguero is a key player in Guardiola’s plans. Manchester City have found the net nine time in the space of three games but how will they fair against their rivals who only conceded one goal in three games? Man City’s three games have all finished in over 2.5 goals and Aguero scored in every game but will the Argentine’s absence have all that much influence on the success of the derby? Manchester United are the slight favourites to win against their city rivals with odds currently at 23/10. Betting on over 2.5 goals is also very lucrative, with odds of 24/25 as they currently stand. A perfect bet for the neutrals.
Leicester City vs Liverpool
Leicester failed to move last year’s momentum forward to the current season and have only managed to secure one win from their opening three matches. Liverpool are in the same boat with one win, one draw and a loss and Jurgen Klopp has revealed Liverpool have made “special arrangements” to get their star player Philippe Coutinho back from international duty in time for the clash against Champions. Liverpool are the clear favourites against the Foxes, with odds at 3/5 but a cheeky tenner on Leicester will potentially return £57. Will Claudio Ranieri’s men pick up the pace to overcome Liverpool at Anfield at a time with such high odds?
Swansea City vs Chelsea
This is the perfect time for Chelsea to capitalize on relatively three easy points when compared to their rival title contender’s big upcoming clash. Both Manchesters and Chelsea have won three from three and a win over Swansea will send them in the right direction as they host Liverpool the following week. Conte’s men found the net seven times in three games, all ending in over 2.5 goals. Chelsea are the favourites as were expected to be against a Swansea team who only managed to bag one win and lost twice. Odds are currently at 3/5 for Chelsea to win the game and 17/20 for the match to finish in over 2.5 goals.
