Premier League of Darts 14 betting comes from Sheffield on Thursday and the PDC have left the big match until last.
Michael van Gerwen v Phil Taylor ends the night after three massive matches before them.
For Van Gerwen this is an opportunity to cement his place at the top of the Premier League table, while Taylor is gunning for a top-four finish and a place in the playoffs.
Here are the Premier League Darts 14 fixtures and best betting tips.
Peter Wright v Adrian Lewis
Adrian Lewis was stunned 7-0 by Michael van Gerwen last week and also lost 7-4 to James Wade on a frustrating night in Birmingham for the Englishman. Lewis is still mathematically in with a chance of reaching the playoffs but must beat Peter Wright on Thursday. Can he do it? Well, Lewis boasts a 17-2-12 record over Wright but has lost the pair’s last four meetings. That includes a 7-2 stuffing earlier in this Premier League campaign. Wright is the smart price at 1.67 to win again.
Raymond van Barneveld v Dave Chisnall
Barney’s loss to Gary Anderson last week was the Dutchman slip out of the Premier League playoff places, while Dave Chisnall secured a morse-boosting 6-6 draw with Van Gerwen. Is it too late for a Chisnall comeback? He’s only one win off fourth-place Taylor with two matches remaining. If he can beat Van Barneveld and then Wade next week he could make the playoffs.
Chisnall beat Barney 7-2 in the fifth week of the Premier League. He is 2.60 to win as underdog on Thursday.
James Wade v Gary Anderson
Gary Anderson’s recent Premier League form reads LWDLW. The two-time world champion has struggled to get into his rhythm over this tournament and expectations that he was the main challenger to Van Gerwen have been wide of the mark. Anderson’s inability to win on his opponent’s legs has meant he takes most matches close to the distance. His average remains over 103 but when an opponent matches that Anderson has been exposed.
Wade and Anderson drew 6-6 back in Week 4 in Brighton. Wade’s form has plummeted since then but a win over Lewis last week will have given him confidence. A draw here at 5.50 is not a bad shout.
Michael van Gerwen v Phil Taylor
There was a time when darts betting fans would assume odds of 1.33 for the victor of Van Gerwen v Taylor was priced for the latter. The swing of darts dominance towards Van Gerwen happened two years ago and the Dutchman is now the superior force of the two.
Taylor still has his strengths and remains a big-game player. He had a disaster against Van Gerwen in Week 7, losing 7-4 in Rotterdam with an average of 93.87. But Van Gerwen had the home crowd behind him then and Sheffield, close to Taylor’s Stoke home, will bring a different atmosphere.
Expect Van Gerwen to win but not heavily. A 7-5 result at 9.00 is a good punt.
