Eindhoven v Feyenoord is the big Eredivisie clash this weekend as two of the Netherlands’ title challengers go head to head.
This is already a massive game and Dutch football betting fans are stuck over who to back.
On the one hand Eindhoven are at home and want to make their stadium a fortress this season to reclaim the title. But on the other hand Feyenoord are defending champions and have won all four of their matches this season.
Elsewhere, Ajax have a reasonably easy fixture at Den Haag, while Twente face the prospect of more misery against Utrecht.
Bet on Eindhoven v Feyenoord
The biggest match of the season so far sees defending champions Feyenoord head to Eindhoven. There was concern Feyenoord would struggle this season after a number of their top stars and their manager left after winning the title. But they have started the new season brilliantly. Twelve goals in four games is a superb return, especially at the start of a season, while they have only conceded three times.
Contrast that form with Eindhoven, who last week suffered a shock 2-0 defeat at Heerenveen. Their three-match wining streak after crashing out of the Europa League has come to an end and their manager will demand a reaction this weekend.
Who will win between Eindhoven and Feyenoord? It’s hard to tell. Eindhoven are 2.10 favourites to win but Feyenoord look very dangerous. At 3.40 they are a great price to beat their title rivals. However, Feyenoord have played Manchester City in midweek, while Eindhoven have had seven days to prepare for this match. Feyenoord to win/draw on the Double Chance at 1.76 is a good bet.
Bet on Ajax
Ajax have also recovered from their European misadventures earlier this season and head into Sunday’s match with Den Haag having won three league games on the bounce. Klaas Jan Huntelaar and Hakim Ziyech have scored three goals apiece this term and are in good form. Den Haag shouldn’t be a problem for the Lancieri, who are 1.27 to win.
Eredivisie betting tips
Elsewhere in the Eredivisie, Heerenveen’s Morten Thorsby will be hoping to continue his hot streak in front of goal when they play Excelsior. Thorsby has scored 50 per cent of Heerenveen’s goals this season but missed out in the 2-0 win over Eindhoven. The club have strength in depth and are a good price at 2.15 to beat Excelsior.
Twente, however, may have a lot less luck against Utrecht on Sunday. Twente remain without a point from four games this season and last week lost a crunch game at Sparta 1-0. They keep matches tight and have conceded just seven goals over those four games — not bad when you consider how leaky bad defences can be. But they are struggling up front. Twente have had 40 shots this season and scored just twice. Utrecht are 2.05 to win this one.
