The elite’s football league is back and the last two matches are going to make or break some teams, but these are the games which make betting on the Champions League all the more exciting. Leicester City are already making history and a win over Club Brugge on home soil will seal the deal, sending the foxes into the knockout stages. Arsenal and PSG cruised through Group A and having already qualified, it makes their upcoming big clash seem less intriguing. Manchester City picked up three very important points against Barcelona to maintain second place of Group C with a three point advantage. Borussia Dortmund and Madrid are in cruise control although not completely safe yet. We’ll take a closer look at the betting information you should be looking at when creating your ideal bet on the Champions League.
Group A – Bet on Arsenal vs Paris
While having already qualified alleviates the pressure, both teams will want to win this game, as a win for either team could be crucial in their Champions League progress as the group leaders will have an easier route in the round of 32. Arsenal have six players which will not be making the clash due to injury while Paris saw their Argentinian star Angel di Maria suffer a blow over the weekend and will also miss the game. Both sides are unbeaten in the Champions League so far and both will be adamant to keep it that way.
Group B – Bet on Beşiktaş vs Benfica
Group B is all to play for with just a single point separating first form third place. Besiktas are currently third in the group, behind second placed Napoli on goal difference, but facing a home game against Benfica and a trip to bottom of the group Dynamo Kiev for their final match. They still have an excellent chance of making the knockout stages but their upcoming clash will have a huge influence on their fate. Benfica’s Eduardo Salvio has only scored two league goals this season, but he’s found the net in three of his four Champions League matches to make him the top scorer across all competitions for his side. Odds for him to score at any time are priced at 19/4. Beşiktaş are the slight favourites, with odds currently at 33/20 to win the game and 7/4 for Benfica to win away from home.
Group C – Bet on Borussia Mönchengladbach vs Manchester City
Manchester City have not been able to secure a win in the Champions League when playing away from home. Pep Guardiola needs a win against the German side and odds for City to win are priced at 17/20, a great price to add to any accumulator bet. City’s star forward Aguero found the net six times in the Champions League, including the play-offs and odds for the Argentine striker to score in Germany are currently at 51/50. All Manchester City’s games in the Champions League ended in over 3.5 goals and a tenner on that outcome will potentially return £25.
Group D – Atletico Madrid & Bayern Munich
Both giants are through to the next round but Atletico Madrid have won all their matches and can rest some players in their upcoming match versus PSV. Betting on Atletico Madrid to beat PSV might not be too profitable as odds stand at 3/10. Handicap Betting might be more appealing, as odds for Atletico Madrid to win with a goal difference of two are currently at 39/50. The big clash of Group D will happen on the last match day of the group stages and only two wins for Bayern will make it possible to win the group.
Group E – Bet on Monaco vs Tottenham
Tottenham have only managed to secure one win in the Champions League group stages and face first placed Monaco away from home in their next encounter. They need to pick up three points in their next match as it might be too little too late if they pick up a win in their last match day against CSKA. Odds for Tottenham beating Monaco are priced at 2/1. Tottenham’s only win came on the road and three of their four games played finished in under 2.5 goals. The odds for a maximum of two goals scored in the game are currently at 19/25.
Group F – Borussia Dortmund and Madrid to go through
It was written as soon as the draw was made. There was little belief that any teams other than the two in question would make it through to the next round. The German side have got the upper hand in the table and now face Legia Warszawa at home to seal the deal, with odds priced at 1/10 to win the game. Looking for a more adventurous bet? Try handicap betting on Dortmund, as odds for the German side to win with a difference of four goals are currently at 7/5. Ronaldo will face his old club Sporting Lisbon on Tuesday night and a win will send them through to the next round. 8/13 are the odds for Madrid to win and odds for Ronaldo to score at any time stand at 23/25.
Group G – Bet on Leicester City
The foxes made history by playing in the Champions League and they’re just two points away from making history yet again. Club Brugge didn’t manage to secure any points and Leicester face them on home soil this time round, a match where odds for the foxes to win are priced at 11/25. Kasper Schmeichel is still out of the squad as he waits for his fractured hand to heal, although this shouldn’t influence the game drastically, considering their favourable position in Group G.
Group H – Bet on Juve and Sevilla
Both Juve and Sevilla have good history in European competitions and both teams are unbeaten this year in the Champions League so far. However, Juve are not safe yet and need three points to book their place in the knock-out stages. Sevilla host Juve next and there are no favourites in the game, as odds for both teams to win the game are currently at 7/4. Both teams have had three of their four games finishing in under 2.5 goals and a £10 bet on under 2.5 goals will potentially return £16.70. Sevilla have three consecutive wins in the Champions League and Juve will need something special to upset the Spanish side in front of their own fans.
