Betting on La Liga – Matchday 2

August 26, 2016

Barcelona are looking to secure their third consecutive title and their 6-2 win over Real Betis kicked off their season in the right direction. Messi and Suarez continued to cement on their already solid understanding they have on the pitch and have bagged two and three goals respectively. Zinedine Zidane's men made a strong start, winning their opening game 3-0 at Real Sociedad on Sunday. That included two goals from Gareth Bale, who needed less than two minutes to get his name on the score sheet. We’ll delve a little deeper to discover the best bets available when betting on La Liga this weekend.

Barcelona

The defending champions will travel to Bilbao for their next encounter and as expected, they’re the clear favourites with odds at 1/2 as they stand. Luis Suarez to score at any time is currently at 5/6, a bet which makes a lot of sense judging by his form and his opening hat-rick. Messi has exactly the same odds and if it starts raining goals once again, there’s a very high chance of getting his name on the scoresheet. Feeling adventurous? Try handicap betting for Barcelona to win by two goals with odds at 33/25.

Madrid

An outstanding performance by Los Blancos started the season on the right track for Zidane’s men but Bail was the one who shined. The Welshman was excellent last season, regaining his form from an underwhelming 2014-15 season to produce his best form in Spain so far. By far the favourites, odds for Madrid to win are at 1/5 and 11/25 for Cristiano Ronaldo to score at any time. Madrid fans are expecting a show at the Bernabeu full of goals, and odds for the game to finish in over 3.5 goals are at 4/5.

Atletico Madrid

Diego Simeone wasn’t too impressed with his team after failing to secure a win against freshly promoted Deportivo Alaves. Atletico opened the score in the dying minutes of the game but Deportivo Alaves got the final blow as they equalized at the end of the five minute injury time given by the ref. Atletico face Leganes next, a team who’s debuting the 1st tier of Spanish football and needless to say, Atletico are the favourites with odds currently at 11/20 to win the game.
